(Chadar Trek)
In Ladakh’s deep winter, the Zanskar River turns into a sheet of ice — the famous Chadar Trek. Trekkers step carefully on the frozen river, where cracks shine, patches glow, and reflections shimmer like glass. Tall cliffs rise like walls of stone, icicles hang like silver threads, and narrow gorges guide the way.

At Nerak Falls, water is caught mid‑flow, frozen into a crystal sculpture. It feels like a temple of nature, silent and sacred. Nights are spent in tents or caves, where fires flicker, soup warms the hands, and stars burn bright above the Himalayas.
The cold is sharp, often below –20°C, testing strength and spirit. Yet every step is a lesson in patience and courage. The trek ends where it began, but memories remain — of walking on ice, hearing silence, and finding eternity in winter’s embrace.
