Rainfall

First rain revives the city; alone, I drown in memory, regret, and loss – love gone, silence remains, hope fades in endless night.

(Rainfall)

The first rain of the season arrives; the city is reborn
Though the rain promises company, I still feel all alone.

Relentlessly, the rain pours down at the dead of night
Past mistakes linger on; no one can set the record right.

I wasn’t the one to let go, it was you who crossed the line
And now I know deep in my heart, you were never mine.

Didn’t care about faith much, never thought I’d pray
Yet now I beg for the cup to pass—take this pain away!

The winds are fierce, ushering in dark deluges of despair

They wash away sweet memories, and leave behind the tears.

I always stood firm by you, never wanted our love to die
But you had other plans, left without even saying goodbye.

The phone hasn’t rung since; you haven’t opened the door
Drenched in rain I watch my world end, dare not hope anymore.
