Photostory: Fragments of Life
They are abstract in form and a puzzle in visual language. When placed individually, they might fall apart, but together they raise deeper questions.
Photographers often reveal fragments of their inner world through their work, and I am no exception. Yet, in this case, the photographs seemed to turn back toward me. They began questioning my existence, my beliefs, and my self-worth. I took them at different times, in different places, but they seem connected by a fine line. There is a presence of life in every frame, though expressed in a distinctive way.
The world is going through a crazy time, and we often forget to rewind our lives. These scenes carry a profound quietness and quietly ask questions about our existence. Life is not a race; it is a journey of discovery. Every moment is special and helps us become better human beings.
These abstract forms called out to me. They stirred something deep within, evoking emotions I could not name, and I felt an inexplicable connection with the scenes before me.
Through this series, I was searching for the scattered pieces of myself, attempting to trace a fragile line between my inner self and the vastness beyond it.
Debrani Das is a street photographer based in Kolkata, India, and an ambassador for Fujifilm India. A member of the Unexposed Collective, she views the camera as a quiet, intuitive language to capture the unseen soul of everyday scenes, guided by her belief that simplicity is the most challenging subject to photograph.
She has won the Women Street Photographers Artist Residency and the Baku Street Photo Festival, and her work has been featured at international festivals.
