A poignant silence
Stretched its arms embracing
Two devastated souls,
Trying their best to build –
A bridge of hope
With rivets of unbroken trust,
Over the vast river of forbidden social norms.
A soft spring breeze,
Tried in vain to embalm
The two forlorn hearts
Which had lost its way
In the blind narrow bylanes
Of caste and creed.
A bejewelled night
Blurred in their tears
Tried to pry open a closed door,
Amidst bylanes of barred windows,
For she believed
Promises could be kept,
Promises would be kept.
