Photostory: Through the Mirror

It is always about meeting the moment. When I arrived in Italy, I did not know what to seek or what to hold onto. I carried only one quiet rule: remain still within myself, keep emotion tempered, regardless of what unfolded before me.
Like any traveler, I watched life—Italian life—through borrowed eyes. Yet I wondered what would happen if I resisted the familiar gaze, if I refused the images already made by countless others. I was not drawn to the obvious, nor the expected. I wanted to see differently.
I chose to approach life obliquely—messy, fractured, charged with feeling. At times confusing, at times dramatic, always alive. Rather than presenting the world as it stands, I let it slip through mirrors and reflections, where reality bends and certainty dissolves.
In reflection, the world becomes something else entirely. The real drifts toward the surreal; clarity gives way to ambiguity. Emotions deepen, perspectives multiply, and the known becomes strangely unfamiliar.
This work is not about how life appears. It is about how life feels.
