fool's paradise a story

“Hey, Josh! That’s a nice juice, can we have some more, please?“ Tania said.

“Sure! No problem, I’ll get a glass for all of you and then I will go to work! I’m really excited as today I’m getting paid a lot of money and I’m pretty sure I’ll be promoted to become a manager. You don’t even have half the money I have. If you did, then you  would be buying things yourselves and not asking me for them!” Josh boasted as he put on his coat…

Josh was having coffee with his small gang of friends.

Josh loved boasting about how rich he was. Every day he would brag about his money and the expensive things he owned! His friends were extremely jealous of him. But what they didn’t know was that all this was fake. He had been fired from his job for his bad attitude and now, he couldn’t stop bragging.

This happened a few days later-“ Oh Josh, remember you were talking about that new shoe? Shall we go get it?“ Jeremy asked.

“Well, I’ll get it some other day.“ Josh said.

“But, why? A few weeks ago you were almost crazy about it!” Jeremy said.

“Well let’s just say, I’m trying to save up a bit” Josh would say.

“Saving up? You’ve got to be kidding me. Stop trying to be funny, let’s just go” his friend would say.  His friends kept forcing him to buy things and he would be using up all his money and later, taking loans. He was unable to pay the money back as he was only spending and not saving. He ended up getting arrested by the cops. This shows he was living in a fool’s paradise, thinking everything was fine, whereas if he saved his money, he would also have saved his life.
