courage of a poor boy

Every morning while going to school I would see a poor homeless child of around 12 years. His family suddenly became poor. But I never found them begging on the streets. Then summer vacation started. When I returned to school after the holidays I could not see them. I tried to look here and there but could not find them anywhere.

Then one day while I was waiting for my school bus, I saw the child and his family selling incense sticks in the public buses while his father sold chips near the streets. Also his father worked in night shifts in a factory to earn a living. But the parents did not want their son to grow up uneducated.

So the poor father managed to save some money and put his son in a night school for the poor. During the day he would sell incense sticks but at night he would study. In this way a few years passed. I again met them on the road while going to school. He was in class 12 then. He was studying hard for his board exams to score good marks and seeing his father’s sufferings, the sensible boy wanted to lighten the hardships of his parents.

Finally  he passed with high scores and got a scholarship. His college education was free and he  got admission in an engineering college. After four years he became an engineer and got a job in a good company.

This is the story of a poor and helpless child whose courage, hard work and mental strength helped him to succeed and took him from rags to riches.
