No other fruit enjoys such popularity. Mangoes originated in India over 4,000 years ago and are considered to be a sacred fruit. Mangoes spread gradually throughout Asia and then to the rest of the world. Today, Asia grows 75 per cent of the mangoes in the world.
Those were the days when a glass of chilled aam pora sharbat would be waiting for me as I returned from college in the afternoon. A sip…and my sweaty tiredness would vanish!
‘Boredom’, the word didn’t exist. There was always something exciting to try out. A new adventure awaited us around the next corner. So nowadays it baffles me when I hear children moan about vacations being boring and they can’t wait for school to reopen.
As the overhead sun reaches its zenith, the afternoons grow sultry and hot with the passage of seasons. During summers, it is unbearable while in the winter season, it is the best part of the day.
And nature never fails anyone. On some days I’d look out and find a bright bud awaiting the sun’s awakening kiss.
