Puja vacation is the most festive time of the year for which children wait eagerly. This year, my family and I went for a spiritual journey to the Golden Temple in Amritsar. This place symbolizes peace, harmony and love.
Our journey to the Golden Temple began with an early morning flight. As we reached Amritsar, the atmosphere was very fresh and cold. Upon arriving, we saw the view which made us speechless. The Temple seemed to float on the holy water and it shone like gold.
Inside the Temple, everyone was welcomed regardless of their caste or background, which shows the sign of unity and equality. As we entered the temple a melodious song started playing, these were holy hymns. Then we stood in a queue to worship the Guru Granth Sahib. One of the most memorable parts of the visit was volunteering in the langar. We got an opportunity to serve food to many people. This act of selfless service showed me the importance of compassion and the joy of giving.
As the day turned into night, the Golden Temple underwent a breathtaking transformation.
At the end of the day we all were tired and went back to the hotel. We boarded the flight the next day, but the trip to the Golden Temple is etched in my heart forever.
