I have always shared a bond with nature. There is a neem tree in our garden which was planted by my mother when I was born.

As it grew taller and stronger, my parents installed a swing and a treehouse on the tree. I spent a lot of time there. During winter afternoons, I spent all my time reading books under the tree. Sometimes, my friends and I play in the treehouse. I can see colourful birds sitting on the branches. These birds are known as the Indian Rollers and they are very beautiful. I noticed that they only came in the evening.

Thankfully, neem leaves keep mosquitoes away. Therefore, I am able to watch the Indian Rollers peacefully. The more I watch them, the more I long to have a pet of my own, especially an Indian Roller. Once, I saw them eating beetles that were trying to come into the treehouse.

The neem tree has always been home to many creatures such as squirrels, insects and birds. Owls can also be spotted at night.

My name is engraved on one of the branches of the tree. It is forever engraved as it signifies the unbreakable connection between us. The friendship has grown stronger over the years. I still enjoy riding the swing and studying in the treehouse as it brings out the child in me. I often get reminded of my childhood days when I’m near the neem tree.
