Ram, a rickshaw puller on the streets of Shyam Bazar in Kolkata, often found solace in the quiet moments of his solitary journey back to his humble shed beneath the bridge. It was during one of these solitary returns that he met Mira, a beggar near the bypass crossing.
Their chance encounters became a daily phenomenon, a fleeting connection amidst the cares of their respective lives. Ram found unexpected solace and companionship in Mira. Their shared moments offered a respite from the harsh realities of their existence.
One evening, as they walked together, Ram found himself overwhelmed by a wave of emotion. With trembling words, he confessed his love for her saying, “Mira, I must tell you, I love you deeply … and I want to marry you.”
“Ram,” she whispered gently into his ears, “I love you too. I would have certainly cherished a life with you, had I been alive.”
