Lingti Tsarap Chu, an important river of Ladakh. The source of Tsarap River is from an un-named glacier near Pankpo La at the border of Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh. Then Tsarap Chu flows North-East up to Sarchu on Manali – Leh Highway.Thereafter Tsarap River alongwith Lingti Chu moves towards north and north-west up to Fuktal Gompha. Therafter  the Lingti Tsarap Chu flows towards south up to Purne village where it joins with Kargiak river (Originatimg from Shingo La/ Shinku La) .Then the river rushes  down to main Zanskar valley where joins by its tributary the Stod River at Padum, the capital of Zanskar. Together these two rivers form the Zanskar River.

The Tsarap Chu attracted me through my journey from Purne- Phuktal Gompha-Padum and also at Sarchu on Leh-Manali Highway. Especially the colors, the curves and formations of the mountains and the river itself – were very eye-catching.  The picturesque images of Tsarap Chu are still reeling in my vision.
