The “Bandna/Badna Festival” in Purulia is a unique and culturally rich celebration. That takes place in the Purulia district of West Bengal, India. This festival is a vibrant display of local tribal traditions. It is often associated with the region’s indigenous communities and the Santhal tribe.

Bandna Festival is typically observed during Diwali festival. The festival is characterized by a lively atmosphere filled with worship, traditional singing, dancing and different ritual activities. Before the festival, women decorate outer wall of their homes with lal mati and then painted their homes with colours and beautiful designs. During the festival people decorate their yard with rangoli patterns and put vermillion dots in between rangoli with their religious practice .There is a strong sense of community as families and neighbors come together to participate in the festivities. Gorukhuta is an essential and symbolic element in the Bandna Festival.
