Ever since 9th August 2024, the city of Kolkata has erupted in outrage, as there has been massive uproar from the public regarding the homicide and rape of a junior doctor at the prestigious RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The doctor was found in a pitiful state, with a ruptured skull and violated multiple times in the seminar room of the college.
The people all over Kolkata have raised the slogans of “We Want Justice” in response to this incident. The protests picked up an even sharper turn when during a nighttime rally on 14th August 2024, several unnamed men entered the premises of the college in an attempt to destroy all evidence of the case, an act in which they were mostly successful.
The case has now been transferred to the Supreme Court and the hearings are being carried out diligently, but this has not dampened the spirit of the citizens, who have pledged to not have any respite till justice is appropriately dished out.
