Durgapur haat (“haat” means weekly market), in Uttar Dinajpur district of North Bengal is held on every Saturday. It is extremely popular among local residents of who flock in masses from near and far.
Almost every daily requirement is available. Sellers of same products generally sit together. Thus it is easy for consumers to find their necessities at a competitive price.
Area of Durgapur haat is so wide spread that we spent a whole day- travelling through shops selling cattle in one part, spices in another, earthen pots in another area, fishes at another, etc …. And yet could not see the whole of it.
