Clay sculptors of Sendra, a village in Bankura District of West-Bengal are a striving community, living in extreme economic hardship. Their tools are in a way primitive. Yet their art-works are a treat to watch. ‘Bonga elephant’, a unique form of elephant is only made in this village. Other artworks are special too.
It is encouraging to see that children, beside their study and play, lend a hand to the elders. The future of this art seems promising.
