Artisans of Bengal have traditionally been a class by themselves. The potters and sculptors here are still working wonders with their magic fingers.

Not working in the best of conditions, they are loyal to the art form, striving to bring out the best.

Clay sculptors of Sendra, a village in Bankura District of West-Bengal are a striving community, living in extreme economic hardship. Their tools are in a way primitive. Yet their art-works are a treat to watch. ‘Bonga elephant’, a unique form of elephant is only made in this village. Other artworks are special too.

It is encouraging to see that children, beside their study and play, lend a hand to the elders. The future of this art seems promising.
