I walked inside The 44th International Kolkata Book Fair with my mother brimming with excitement. The sight of numerous bookstalls sprawled across the large campus mesmerised me. The map provided helped us navigate through the ground easily. The fair was quite crowded with visitors of all ages.
The layout of the fair was well designed. Separate areas were allocated for different genres. There were books on from academic subjects, fictions, technology, special hobbies among others. The Scholastic Publications stall felt like haven with works of all my favourite authors on display. It was there that I got introduced to the world of Harry Potter. We then moved to the Russia pavilion. It was the focal theme of the year for the Book Fair. The pavilion showcased the culture of Russia and its literature through books and panels. I also attended an interesting workshop organized by British Council Kolkata at their stall. Digging into a wide array of refreshments from the food stalls was a perfect ending to our visit.
The joy of walking through the endless alleys, inhaling the fragrance of new books and flipping through all the bestsellers, new releases and classics, was unparalleled. I left the Kolkata book fair with my hands full of shopping bags and a heart full of happiness.
