This rendition celebrates Rabindranath Tagore’s time spent in the West. Western melodies had inspired him to compose incredibly beautiful songs, three of which we tried putting together as a medley. The first song Phuley Phuley Dholey Dholey was inspired by the Scottish folk song Ye Banks and Braes, and the song Drink to Me Only With Thine Eyes, written by the English playwright Ben Jonson, went on to influence Tagore’s melody for Kotobaro Bhebechhinu. Ending on a nostalgic note to depict the bringing together of people from different parts of the world — Purano Shei Diner Kotha, Tagore’s inspiration from the very well-known Auld Lang Syne.
