Holi is a festival of colors. It marks the beginning of spring season. On the first day, people worship Holika. A big fire is lit on the crossroads, and everyone comes to pray to the holy fire with popcorns and water. The day just after Holi is known as Dhuleti. Every year, we go to our farmhouse with my entire family. I also carry big water guns (pichkaris) and lots of water balloons to the farm. I fill them up with water and colours and spray it on my cousins. We all play with herbal colours as they don’t harm us and our environment. There is a big swimming pool in the farm and we all jump into it splashing water outside and making the water colourful. The elders smear colours on each other’s faces and enjoy themselves. We are very careful so that the colours do not enter into our eyes and we do not waste a lot of water. My mother and grandmother carry sandwiches, juices and sweetmeats with them. We sit together and relish them in our coloured clothes. I really enjoy this beautiful and colourful festival.
