The Parsis first came to Kolkata in the 18th century. Though their numbers have dwindled in the past few decades, their connection to the sity still remains strong. Every year on 16 August the Parsi community in Kolkata celebrate New Year with traditional food, music and festivities.

Theyyam is an ancient dance festival that originated in the north Malabar region of Kerala, India, and is celebrated during the months of October to May. It is a unique form of ritualistic worship, where performers, known as Theyyam artists, wear elaborate costumes and colorful makeup to portray various deities.
